Right, but I assume he won’t be telling these stories unprovoked. They’ll be talking about switching up coverage and he’ll go on to talk about the time he did it against the Bills. Do I care about the Bills from 49 years ago? No, but the conversation is still interesting in context.

True. I think it’s a balance. If you’re not sure about a position, add a free agent and a pick and let them battle it out. Okorafor is worth a chance, but I’d pair him with a rookie and hope one turns into the guy.

I wasn't as down on the ability to rebuild as other people. I think if they had done the Falcons thing and signed Cousins and drafted Maye, gotten a better OT in free agency and then worked on a trade for a WR, we'd be looking at a fringe team. Instead, they've already decided to take the year...

It was refreshing from the gushing over every "special plyer" you normally get on draft coverage.

I think that's right. But I think there's a very real chance they're wasting a good defense and we have no evidence that this front office and this coaching staff can maintain Bill's defense. (We have no evidence they can't, either.)

I understand it, but it makes me scratch my head a lot more about why they didn't spend the money in free agency on OT.

I don't expect us to be good this year, but I think there's a very real potential by treading water, we'll be wasting a very good defense that might not still be there when a real offense is finally ready to take the field in 2025 or 2026.

No, I know. I'm just annoyed they didn't overpay for a tackle in free agency, knowing that most of the good ones would be gone by the time they picked in round two. I think there was hope they'd trade up into round one to get Guyton, but it wasn't to be and now it's too late in free agency.
