Learned something I hadn’t realized from this Reiss piece that starts off with an interview with Matthew’s dad Jackie Slater. I’d forgotten Jackie went to the Pro Bowl seven times, so with Matthew’s eighth selection this year that gives them fifteen in the family. Wonder what the next closest count for a father-son combination would be?

So many wanted him cut after the muffed kick return as a rookie.. For the next 4+ years, many people continued to want him cut..

The man is a leader in that locker room. They respect him for what he is, who is anyone on the site to deny that. I watched the video of slater bringing the team together for their “oh yeah”. Standing right next to him was Bear. It was good to see him, he looks good. Hopefully, his health issue is behind him and he will be back next year.
