Damn! 5.45 hangtime?

Lets see if he can actually put it together in terms of consistency and directional punting. The hangtime alone for a punter is as meaningless as a 40 time for a WR.

If he can steal the spot from Allen it would be a win for everyone except for Ryan.

Not sure how he can compare the two, other than both were QB's in college. Not remotely similar.
One can throw. One can't.
One can run and break tackles. One can't (not fast anyhow).
One can't run routes. One is just trying to learn.
Hill had tremendous speed (4.4...not joke...saw it with my own eyes) before getting hurt, and power. Not sure we'll seeing Etling used in same way Hill is being used.

I’m not sure Etling has the build and the elusiveness to stand up to the kind of beating Hill takes. But you have to do something with him. God knows he isn’t long for this team as a quarterback. He has three guys in front of him who are clearly better.

Apparently there's a new offensive lineman at practice. Hopefully a veteran swing tackle.

Agreed. BB probably saw enough out of Stidham in spring to know Etling was not making this team as a QB. Maybe if they can work with him, cut him and put him on practice squad as a dual threat option :) and keep working the rest of season just in case there's something there.

...and that something will be waiving him on Cut-Down Day and looking for somebody better.

Not sure that will be necessary. They’ll be able to get a good idea of whether or not there is something there through TC and the preseason.

Jeff Howe called him the most impressive rookie QB he’s seen at spring practices since he’s covered the team FWIW. Curious to see him in person.

At this point, i think we sell high on Brady. Clearly we have the heir apparent.

Obviously these are TINY sample sizes, but a thought exercise for those who know more about punting than I do: Would the Patriots be more likely to appreciate Allen's consistency in hang time (allowing them to gauge better how fast their gunners need to be), or is the raw power that Bailey is showing more valuable?
Don't forget Allen has been an integral part of the kicking game as a holder, we don't know if Bailey can replace him at THAT job. I love the kid's leg, but you know what you have in Allen. He's PROVEN that he can kick well under pressure. What he did in the superbowl was the stuff that probably got him a few MVP votes. I'm not sure if Bailey's strong leg can overcome that. But that being said, what he does in camp here will likely get him a job somewhere in the NFL if he doesn't beat out Allen.

I think we have something here with Stidham.

I’ll just leave this here. And yes, that’s really him...

I'll miss Ryan Allen as he's landed several bigtime kicks in the post-season. I've also seen Allen boot too many short kicks as well. I hope this Stanford kid can learn some of these touch kicks from Allen and how to punt in cold weather.

Wise in uniform today....off PUP

New #63 on OL.......Any news on who new guy is?
Who cares. Hes just gonna go and retire in 15 minutes anyways.

:p

I hope Stidham holds up better than Teri Hatcher's boobs did.

In other camp news, giants down 2 WRs early as sterling shepard broke his thumb and Corey Coleman tore an acl. That’s probably the career ender for Coleman, who never seemed to get over the injury bug.

With that proposal to go to 18 games but each player only plays 16, you’ll need a dual threat placekicker/punter. Shocking that the Patriots are going to be better at it than anybody else.
