QB: A-. Thought of an A but to be honest some of those QB hits were on Mac himself and not every single one of his throws were on the money. He'll learn. Really nice debut though against a good defense.
OL: C- They're better than what they showed yesterday, or at least I hope they are for Mac's sake.
RB: D- I think we all know why. Harris did hit 100 yards or this would be an F
WR: B
TE: C. Best grade for this group in over a year lol but overall a meh day tbh. Penalized for that dumb helicopter leap fumble by Smith that almost killed a drive.

DL: B
LB: C+
DB: B-

Special Teams: C+. Penalties hurt this grade. Folk did his job.

The story of the game was the 2 RB turnovers and dumb penalties in all phases of the game.

OL pass blocking was bad but run blocking was good. Receivers and tight ends were fine. RBs played well if you ignore that they basically gave away the game with 2 turnovers. Jones had like a B+ game that looks like an A+ for a rookie's first game. Defense only gave up 17 points, which should be good enough to win.

I'd bump up the TE & LB grades to B- and lower the DL & DB grades to C+

Coaching grades?

is there a grade required for predictability? if it is, Josh "love me some run plays" McDaniels won himself an A+

individually the TEs did not do much. and smith fumbled.
8 for 8 for 83 yards isn't a C.

The two tight ends caught EVERY pass thrown their way. I can think of at least 3 first downs on those eight. Probably were more.

It's not as if NE lost 2 RTs and had to overload the side of the line #3 tackle Justin Herron played

I am not sure why we're not more critical of the offense. 17pts is not a lot. Defense did ok. 17pts was the lowest score for a win in Week 1. Everyone seems to be say yippee and yeay for QB play and WRs and TEs, and ho-hum on Defense. We should have won that game if offense had performed better. And yes the turnovers hurt, but sometimes you just have to overcome the **** that happens in a game, and do what's needed to win it, and we didn't

The turnovers and penalties were what killed the scoring chances? It's not complicated.

Pointing that out isn't letting the offense off the hook, the offense did those things. People are (relatively) happy with the offense anyway because it actually appears to have some skill now.

Because that was reserved for the other QB that shall remain nameless. If we lost a game 5 years ago and only scored 16 points, the QB would be ripped to shreads. Exactly right the defense held a team to 17 points and we lost. Sorry but to give the Offense a better grade than the defense has really shown how much people have changed their expectations on what the pats are.

Going 1-4 in the RZ is the reason we lost. MIA went 2-2 in RZ. If we get a TD instead of a FG in one of those, game over.

Pats dominated almost every statistical category, only allowed 259 yds, a -1 TO diff., a +13' TOP advantage, and yes 85 yds in penalties.

By contrast, Bucs allowed 451 yds, a -3 TO diff., a (-)9' TOP disadvantage, and 106 yds in penalties. Yet they went 3-5 in RZ and held Dal to 1-4. So they won despite all the TOs, penalties and miscues.

Maybe it's Josh's fault or maybe it's the O, but either way, need to score TDs instead of FGs if you want to win these tight games. They need to fix that.

nobody on O gets an A when we only get 16 pts. That being said good start for Mac.

DL: C+
LB: B-
DB: B-
ST: B

Coaching: C

When Harris took himself out of the game he was gassed. They should have had another RB in. They also didn’t start either half well on D. On O they could have opened up the offence a bit earlier. Losing a division game at home hurts, especially against the Phins as we rarely win in Miami.

I mean if your hot take is "more touchdowns are better" then... OK? Who do you think doesn't understand that you want more points? You think there's a secret cabal of people who think you win by scoring less?

Anyone can play that game:

It's about being more efficient in the RZ. Better play calling, better execution?

QB - C Right in the meaty part of the curve. Not failing and not showing off. As **** Vermeil would attest, "at some point it will be time to take the diapers off"
RB - A NE relied heavily on the run game and after 40 carries, fault Harris all you want, but the Pats are not in a position to win without him.
TE - B - But Henry didnt do much until late.
WR - C
OL - B
K - A 3 for 3. It was a crazy idea to get rid of Folk to begin with.

Defense - A Miami was held to less than 260 yards total offense with only 74 yards rushing. 4 - 11 3rd downs = 36%

Coaching - B+ The right call to protect Mac10 and lean heavily on the run all day, but just dont burn Harris out next time. Defensively the plan was good.
