So much for the Patriots being "close to a deal" for Aqib Talib.
After failing to reach an agreement on a new contract with the free agent cornerback, Talib has reportedly agreed to a deal with the Broncos, who have been quite active on the first day of free agency.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Talib has reached an agreement on a 6-year,$57-million deal that includes $26-million guaranteed.
This comes just one day after reports out of Washington said he was close to a deal with the Patriots and that New England had offered Talib a better deal than the Redskins, who at the time were also interested, were reportedly willing to offer.
Instead, the Broncos apparently came in and offered Talib a deal that he was seemingly unable to turn down, and as a result the Patriots now have a huge hole in their secondary they'll need to fill in the months ahead.
