Spikes and Patriots Seemingly Ready to Part Ways, Says Both Will Benefit from 'Fresh Start'
After recent reports that neither he or the Patriots have been speaking to one another on a new contract, Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes sounds like he's ready to make a change this offseason.
The soon-to-be free agent linebacker appeared on NFL Network's 'NFL AM' and said during the intervierw that both he and the Patriots could use a "fresh start", which would lead you to believe his days in New England are over.
"I would never say never," said Spikes regarding returning to New England, "you know, everybody [says] you never want to burn a bridge, but I just feel like both sides could benefit from a fresh start."
Spikes also said during the interview that he'd be surprised if the Patriots released veteran tackle Vincent Wilfork.
“If he hits the free agency, I would be shocked,” said Spikes. “I think the Patriots love him, the organization up there, Boston loves him. He’s been there for a while. I just honestly can’t see him leaving."
