Backup Plan May Change - Karen Guregian - Guregian has a good notes piece on what the future holds for the Patriots with both Ryan Mallett and the backup QB position, as well as the fact Michael Hoomanawanui is set to fly with the Blue Angels.

BOSTON GLOBE:

Jonathan Kraft touches on Welker fallout - Zuri Berry - Berry has quotes from Kraft in this piece regarding Welker, which is the attention-grabbing portion of the headline.  However, it actually has some nice insight into what the team was thinking back on draft day when they elected to grab Tom Brady.  There are also some additional interesting notes at the end of this piece as well.

ESPN BOSTON:

Is a coach worth a first-round draft pick? - Mike Reiss - Reiss has an interesting article pondering whether or not a coach is worth a first round pick, with quotes from Jonathan Kraft during the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, who obviously is happy with how their deal worked out with Bill Belichick.

Would analytics have moved Brady up? - Mike Reiss - Reiss has quotes from Kraft who also gave some insight in how the decision was made to select Brady.

Patriots' Dennard reports to Nebraska jail - AP - The Chronicle has an AP article on Dennard, who reported to a Nebraska jail on Saturday to begin his 60-day sentence for a 2012 assault on a police officer.  Dennard will reportedly have to serve at least 35 days, after credit for good behavior and the three days he's already spent in jail.

Pats, Broncos could be trying to shake Revis free from Tampa - Mike Florio - Florio reports that the Patriots and Broncos are among teams who may be interested in acquiring cornerback Darrelle Revis from the Buccaneers.

CBS SPORTS:

Patriots say they wanted to keep WR Wes Welker for 2013 - Josh Katzowitz - Katzowitz rehashes the subject again from the Globe's article with Robert Kraft regarding the negotiations with Welker that ultimately led to him signing in Denver.
