Broncos receiver Wes Welker made a hit on New England cornerback Aqib Talib during Sunday's AFC Championship game as he was in pursuit over the middle that knocked the veteran defensive back out of the game.
Talib didn't return after the hit, which Patriots coach Bill Belichick called after the game "a key play in the game" and was clearly agitated. After having a day to think about it, Belichick still wasn't pleased.
He met with the media Monday morning and called it one of the worst plays he's seen and he'll be reporting it to the league.
"I was asked about the hit on [Aqib] Talib and I feel badly for Aqib the way that play turned out," said Belichick. "I went back and watched it, which I didn't have a chance to do yesterday. I think it was a deliberate play by the receiver to take out Aqib; no attempt to get open."
"I'll let the league handle the discipline on that play. It's not for me to decide, but it's one of the worst plays I've seen. That's all I'm going to say about that."
Needless to say one day later like the rest of fans here in New England, it appears he's still upset with how their season ended.
