Here's what Patriots head coach Bill Belichick had to say following their overtime loss to the Jets:

OPENING STATEMENT:

"All right, well, obviously a disappointing loss for us today.  I just didn't feel like we did anything well enough, the way we needed to do it.  Coaching, playing, offense, defense, special teams, you name it.  We just made too many mistakes.  We just didn't play and coach well enough today.  Just got to do a better job.  I know we're better than that, but we weren't today."

On his thoughts on the field goal penalty and how it was explained to him:

"They called us for pushing."

On if he was told if it was during or before:

"Before.  It was on the field goal for pushing."

On if he felt it was a legitimate call:

"We weren't on the second level when we pushed him, no."

On their struggles on third down today:

"We didn't perform well enough.  Like I said we've got to coach better, we've got to play better.  We've just got to do a better job. We just weren't consistent.'

On what he thought of Gronkowski in his first game back:

"I don't know, I'll have to look at the film."

On what the basis was for that penalty call:

"You can't push from the second level.  I didn't think we did that."

On the fact this seems to be the first time it's been called and if it makes it more bothersome:

"I don't know."

On if the Jets changed anything in the second half in terms of the way they approached Brady because they seemed to get to him more:

"No, I don't think so.  I mean they mixed it up, but I think it was kind of the same...pretty much the same mix, saw a lot of dime on 3rd down.  I'll have to look at the film to see if there was anything I've missed, but it looked like it was...that they mixed it in the first half and it looks like they mixed it in the second half pretty much the same calls."

On if Geno Smith looked like a better quarterback than the player they saw earlier in the season:

"Hey played well enough to win today, so give him credit for that."

On what he saw from Rob Gronkowski today:

"I thought we went out there, we all competed.  We just didn't make enough plays.  Just didn't play well enough, didn't coach well enough. I think we'll have to take a look at the film and see how everybody did.  I couldn't evaluate all those guys out there today."

On their third down issues and if there was any particular reason why they struggled:

"Yeah, we just didn't do well enough, obviously.  We've got to coach better,  we've got to play better, just got to make some of those plays.

On what the explanation was that was given to him following the penalty:

"Yeah, we've already been through that three times."

On the fact he mentioned it needs to be at the second level and if it was a reviewable penalty:

"There's no reviews in overtime."

On if that's a new rule:

"Yes.  Yes.  They eliminated the pushing on the second level."
