Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reported Wednesday morning via Twitter that the Patriots have placed linebacker Jerod Mayo on injured reserve, ending his 2013 season.
Mayo joins Vincent Wilfork with that designation after reportedly suffering a torn pectoral, which Les Carpenter of Yahoo! Sports reported the veteran underwent surgery to repair following Sunday's win over the Saints.
It's yet another blow to what had been an incredibly improved Patriots defense this season. We'll have to see in the coming weeks how they'll handle this latest loss.
