Some positive news on this Tuesday, with ProFootballTalk.com reporting that Rob Gronkowski is expected to be cleared to play, and will likely see his first game action Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.
This comes following a long offseason where he's undergone multiple surgeries on the forearm he initially fractured last November, and later refractured during the Patriots' Divisional playoff win over the Texans, as well as back surgery.
As a result it's been a long road for the veteran, who has worked hard at getting himself back into football shape. There have been multiple reports surrounding his availability in recent weeks, but he still hasn't seen action despite his participation in New England's practice sessions. Each time when questioned, Gronkowski had reiterated to reporters that he would come back when "the time was right," and it appears after this report, that the target could indeed be this weekend.
The website reports that Dr. James Andrews will make the final call on the tight end's health before a decision is made regarding his availability for Sunday, citing a source.
The players are currently off today, and will begin their preparations for the weekend beginning on Wednesday.
