Have you ever wondered what former NFL players see that you don't while watching the Patriots play on Sunday? If so you can find out yourself on October 20th when the Patriots Alumni host their annual Game With The Greats at Gillette Stadium. More than 25 former Patriots players as well as the Patriots cheerleaders will be on hand to meet and greet member of Patriots Nation with the Pats on the road to take on the archrival New York Jets.
"It's my favorite event of the year," said legendary former Patriots quarterback Steve Grogan. "Everybody there is a football fan that is pulling for the Patriots. It's a very casual atmosphere where the former players sit down at a table and if you want to sit down and watch the game with them you just sit down next to them and get their perspective on what's going on."
The roster of former players that have attended in the past is impressive to say the least. From the 1960s Larry Eisenhauer and Gino Cappelletti, from the 70s Bill Lenkaitis and Tim Fox, from the 1980s Steve Grogan and Pete Brock, from the 90s Max Lane, and from the Bill Belichick era Joe Andruzzi and Patrick Pass. Throw in a pregame meal on the VIP ticket and the opportunity to take photos with and get autographs from your favorite former players makes it the fall event on the New England sports calendar.
"I think everyone that's ever been there has really enjoyed the experience," said Grogan. "We've had some really nice crowds and we've been able to help a lot of youth football programs around New England with the money we raise."
