It was not good for us. We showed that we could control the ball but it was a bad time to do that when we were 2 scores behind. And why is this in the draft forum?

I was concerned with the Pats body language the entire game. I know Brady was trying to be calm and under control, but I would have liked to have seen more intensity and urgency out of him. I like the fired up Brady that is a vocal leader as well as a leader by example. He just didn't have the intesity I was expecting out of him this game. And I'm not just blaming him, I think the entire team could have been more agressive and shown more urgency, especially on that drive in the 4th quarter.

As long as it's here ... NE was taking what NY was giving them, which was the run game. NY was playing pass and doing it well. Brady throwing that interception, coupled with Crump dropping the TD, gave their offense and defense too much confidence after they started the game off all wired up and nervous. They started the run game too late, they should have pushed it more in the third quarter.

That's fine that they called some running plays--the problem was that they should've been calling them out of the no huddle.

The Jets would have countered with even more fake injuries than they were already using. I felt like I was watching an Oregon game every time the Pats got into a rhythm.

Probably correct. Not sure what the discretion of the officials is on that. I mean, if every other play, someone on the defense stays down with an "injury" to the extent that it becomes an obvious pattern. The other side of that is, when it's a series of running plays, the defense is sort of giving the offense a break by stopping the clock with injury timeouts.

In any case, the pass/run ratio in the first half was better than 2:1 from the get-go. Hard to say if that was the Jets forcing Brady to check out to a pass or if that was the gameplan. We'd been making some decent progress with runs in Q1; it's not as if the Jets were stuffing it time after time at all. Both BGE and Woody were picking their way through the trash around the LoS pretty well. Not sure why they didn't go with more balance, insert a few more draw plays, fake screens, etc.

I had no real problem with the long drive. It needed to end in a TD though.

The Colts used a similar tactic against the Patriots in the past and it worked for them.

Look at it this way--if the Patriots had scored a TD, they had ample time for a FG.

Think about it this way too.

On the next series, Brady screwed up and threw to Welker on 3rd down before the 2 minute warning, and Welker couldn't get out of bounds.

If Brady he's one to the back of the end zone where only Gronkowski can catch it instead, it's either a TD or an incomplete pass. Kick a FG, then kickoff to the Jets.

You have the two minute warning and 3 timeouts.

You can do a kickoff then instead of an onside kick.

Then you have 1:30 for the game-tying field goal.
