Default Poor drafting overall 2005-2008 has really hurt Patriots

Only Gostkowski, Mayo and perhaps Logan Mankins can be considered "hits"

everyone else including Maroney, Dave Thomas and yes even Ben Watson have really disappointed. There are several that it is too early to judge.. (e.g. Wheatley and Wilhite)

But can we agree that BB/Pioli drafts the past 3 years have been disappointing and will hurt the club in the long run?

I thought the 2nd and 4th round pick from last year turned out to be some what decent WRs.

Even Mankins has been below average this year - Several DL have made Mankins their b!tch in games this season and part of the problem of the whole OL which is just letting 2 sacks away from the sack total that Brady had last year

19 sacks in 5 games is deplorable anyway you want to slice it and Mankins is a part to blame

We have had to over-compensate for McDaniels' deficiencies by burning high draft choices and trades on the offensive side, at the detriment of the defense.

Why do we have to go over this seemingly 500 times each season? The 2005 draft class alone kills your argument.

Mankins (Starter)
Hobbs (Starter)
Kaczur (Starter)
Sanders (Starter)
Cassel

That's 4 starters and the #2 QB from a draft without a second round pick.

Take out 05 and it really starts to look bad.

Who in the scouting or drafting department left after 04 or 05?

Correction:

Mankins (Starter)
Hobbs (Starter)
Kaczur (Starter)
Sanders (Starter)
Cassel (Starter)

He got his starting job the same way Brady did.

I like the 2008 youngster additions so far and yes, I agree it's really WAY too soon to tell for sure.

Those of us criticizing the past drafts including myself always need to remember what BB did with last year's 2nd & 4th rounds.

Assistant Director of Player Personnel Jason Licht left after 2002.

Andre Tippett (Assistant Director of Pro Scouting) was transferred out of scouting after 2003.

Assistant Director of Pro Scouting Keith Kidd left (was fired?) after 2004.

Assistant Director of College Scouting Lionel Vital left after 2004.

Nick Caserio spent 2007 out of personnel.

Thomas Dimitroff left after 2007.

Scouting wise, they've lost a few scouts along the way - Matt Russell, Sean Gustus, Jake Hallum.
