The owners would buck and probably dictate to Omissioner Clouseau that any rise in roster size be accompanied by an increase in games played. The owners aren't unilaterally going to pay out more in salaries without recouping that at the gate....

There’s a man who brings dread upon sight.
He’s a bad luck charm, jinx and a blight!
Cost us a trophy for sure
And a chance at two more
Bernard Pollard, the Pats kryptonite!

Of how to break this curse many proffer
So this modest proposal I’ll offer
It may the best bet,
for Bernie to get
the travel agent used by Jimmy Hoffa.

The NFL could just take the games overseas out of the reach of the US judicial system. much like MMA did until 10 years ago.

Yeah no games to attend, but what portion of fans are watching on TV versus attending on any given Sunday?

What portion of revenue is generated at the stadiums versus TV rights?

Even if the owners take a monetary hit on on the gate and concessions, that should be more than mitigated by the sums saved on lawyers and payouts for lost lawsuits.

So who you rooting for this week, Kampala or Lagos?

While I don't believe the NFL will be completely gone, I think we have to look at this in terms of legal issues. The NFL is dealing with lawsuit after lawsuit, sooner or later something drastic is going to happen. In 20-30 years, the NFL will be completely and fundamentally different than it is today.

53 is fine all the way around. No need to expand to 60 if you're allowed to have, you know, YOUR WHOLE TEAM ACTIVE on game day.

The 45 man limit is just some arbitrary number and an outmoded rule that was implemented for no good reason.

That would show that the NFL is serious about dealing with player health and dramatically reduce major injuries. The new technology developed would be the new standard and the NFL could generate serious revenue distributing the new gearto colleges and high schools. Over time the investment would pay for itself, player careers would be longer and far fewer players would suffer major long term health problems from pro football careers.
Yeah but both players are wearing the same super protective gear. Which makes a defensive player like a heat seeking missle.

I know this sounds stupid and a lot of you will laugh at me, but I remember in the 70s a lot of football players with these big afros and long hair, saying that they had less head injuries because all the hair that they had. It seems the afros added an extra layer of padding under the helmet. Maybe Goodell should make long hair and afros mandatory and outlaw bald heads.

I don't think there is any such thing as a perfect NFL helmet, and if there is it would have to be fitted in between the players brain and the inside of their skull, because that is where the damage is happening. I'm sure they can do better (and my understanding is that they already have) but nothing you wear on the outside of your head will ever stop your brain from impacting the inside of your skull upon sudden direction change.

why don't the yput padding on the outside of the helmet, also? and instead of a hard plastic, use some kind of hard rubber composite......change the helmet from a baseball into a restricted flight softball
