Default NFL investigating Saints for placing bounties on players

Breaking news: the NFL is investigating the New Orleans Saints for their alleged use of bounties on opposing players.

Some comments on twitter:

Adam Schefter: NFL investigation of Saints began in 2010 when allegations were made that Saints targeted QBs such as Brett Favre and Kurt Warner.

Judy Battista: The NFL investigation into saints bounties could lead to severe sanctions: losing draft picks, suspensions, etc. ... Gregg Williams, then with Saints, now the Rams def. coord. "administered" the bounty system. Not good. At all.

Peter King: NFL: Saints owner Tom Benson directed GM Mickey Loomis that bounty program be discontinued. NFL says Loomis did not follow Benson's orders.

Mike Dussault from Pats Propaganda: Video: This hit kinda makes me think Kevin Faulk was on the Saints bounty list… This hit kinda makes me think Kevin Faulk was on the Saints bounty list

Daniel Kaplan: "The league’s investigation determined that this improper “Pay for Performance” program included “bounty” payments..

Trey Wingo: I remember a radio interview Gregg Williams gave before 2009 NFC title game saying his D would put " remember me shots" on Favre

Michael Lombardi: This Saints Bounty investigation is ugly to read and going to get uglier once the Commissioner rules. This is really bad.

Judy Battista: Commish has to be particularly unhappy (understatement) that Payton, Loomis didn't stop it and Williams administered it.

Jason La Canfora: According to the NFL, the bounty pool totaled upwards of $50K at times w/ payments for "knock-out hits" w/ players and coaches contributing ... NFL investigation says Saints coaches and GM Mickey Loomis did not intervene to stop bounties when owner Tom Benson instructed them to

Awesome. Somehow the Pats will end up losing the 27th pick out of this!

Aaron Wilson (Balt. Sun): Roger Goodell: 'Payments here are particularly troubling because they involved not just payments for ‘performance,’ but for injuring players

Battista: NFL says neither Sean Payton nor Mickey Loomis did anything to stop the bounties when they became aware of them.

Wow.

Much worse than Spygate if true, IMO.

Punish them accordingly.

no, in fact a good punishment for the Aints would be to give the Patriots their second and third round picks too!

and ban them from using the franchise tag this season. THAT will show them!
