Default OT:How did Sanchez go from defeating Tom Brady and Peyton Manning back to back....

To now being thrown under the bus by 98% percent of his fan base. Do they not realize this is only a third year QB? The media created a false persona and it may destroy poor Mark.

Sanchez didn't play well in that Colts' playoff game. The Jets won despite of him. He completed 58.1% of his passes for 189 yards, 0 TDs, and 1 INT.

Personally, he is not as bad as the media and fans are portraying him now and wasn't as good as Jets fans and much of the media made him out to be before. He is a average to above average QB who is more of a game manager than a QB you can have carry the offense. I don't have the numbers now, but the numbers show that if he throws 30 or more times in a game the Jets are more likely to lose. This year, the Jets are 2-4 in games he has thrown over 30 times. One of those wins needed a Tony Romo implosion to win.

On a side note, I think Schottenheimer gets too much crap too. I agree he is not a very good coordinator, but I think he is creating an offense that hides Sanchez's obvious limitations and trying to exploit his strong point.

The Jets beat the Colts because the Colts threw in the towel on that game, and still barely beat them in the regular season. The playoff game was won by the defense.

As far as the Patriots go, the Patriots and Jets play so much, they know each so well, the Jets are bound to win some games.

Being overhyped by the media and having a limited (Rex is a DC) HC whose MO relies largely on fueling hype for motivational purposes and living in the moment. Rather than challenge this kid they just keep propping him up. Pete was right that he wasn't nearly as ready or developed as a contending franchise needed it's QB to be. And the rush/pressure within that organization to win now hasn't afforded them the opportunity to focus on developing him. I also think in the rush to embrace him as the answer they seriously miscalculated his ceiling and over estimated his floor. He might have developed more of one or the other had he been able to sit for a year behind a savvy veteran in an established offense. But they keep changing the landscape (roster and scheme) in the Meadowlands based on unsustainable windows opened via aggressive cap management.

He's certainly got some charisma and like Tebow guys want to follow him despite the unconventional skillset. He's like the anti-Flacco in that respect. But where conventional Flacco is emotionless Sanchez wears his heart on his sleeve. Every time he screws up the body language morphs into the puppy who just piddled on the rug. Whacking it with a newspaper after the fact just doesn't solve the problem. Neither does praising it. Maintaining structure and discipline and a firm schedule and cueing usually solves it. Although some puppies take a lot longer than others to catch on...and a handful never do. How long before their idiot owners find an excuse to surrender them to a shelter usually depends on how much they invested in them...
