Default Unbiased Question: Hoyer or Sanchez?

So me and one of my fellow co-workers (who happens to be a Jets fan) got into a huge debate during my lunch hour. He thinks Sanchez is much better than Brian Hoyer could ever be. I know all Jets fans are so into Sanchez and sees him as the franchise QB but c'mon. I dont hate Sanchez by all means, I think he's a decent QB at best. Accuracy and consistency is his biggest flaws in my eyes.

We both argued the facts. I know we don't have much to go off of since Hoyer doesn't start but from what I've seen, I think Hoyer could be light years ahead of Mark Sanchez honestly. He always looks poised in the pocket and really has a good accuracy. I feel if Hoyer was a starter for another team, he'd have better stats than Sanchez any season.

Some input on this... insights?

There is no way of answering this question until we trade Hoyer to another team and he gets to show what he can do.

brady > sanchez > fitzpatrck > henne > hoyer

... it's just potential until it happens during real time ...

We'd have to see Hoyer play at least 8 regular season games (it's just different when games count) before we could even come to any sort of conclusion. Sanchez is starting and Hoyer isn't. I'd say Sanchez is better right now and I'd prefer not to see my 8 games with Hoyer (unless he was on another team)

My top 3 competencies for a QB are accuracy, decision making, and poise. Hoyer has shown all of these, Sanchez has shown some poise on certain occasions but that's it.

I agree that Hoyer needs to start in order to make a legitimate comparison but if my job was on the line I'd take Hoyer any day of the week over the Sanchise.

Maybe a better question is Matt Cassel vs Sanchez?

After that you can compare Cassel and Hoyer and use the transitive property, hahaha!

Right and I understood that I couldnt make a real solid argument which I admitted but just from the snippets I saw he seemed much more accurate in the pocket than I've ever seen Sanchez.

But only time will tell I guess..

You'd have to get Hoyer out of New England and some time as the starter in order to answer the question.

I laughed hard after opening this thread.

It'll be worth checking in at JI and GangGreen once they get wind of this!

The answer is Sanchez because potential is unknowable.

Can't wait for SG3's thoughtful comments about this.
