Favre played a hell of a game, especially given the beating he took. As for those who wanted him to run, you may wish to recall that Favre had gotten his ankle injured and had to get it re-taped.

I will eat some crow here and say that I was wrong when I said he would fall apart 3/4 of the way through the season as his 40 year old body broke down. He did make the other part of my prediction come true though - made a bad play with an ill-advised throw that lead to an interception that ended the game for the Vikings.
Toughness, leadership and talent have never been an issue for him. To take it a step further, I really don't really have a problem with his on/off/on/off/on/? position regarding his retirement. The guy can flat-out still play. There is no denying that.
However, the guy does tend to try to do too much sometimes and when a QB does that, sooner or later it catches up with them. All season has has done a great job of staying within himself and not forcing the issue. Last night, all he had to do was run out of bounds or throw the ball away but instead he throws on the run, across his body into double coverage. That decision making is inexcusable for a QB of his experience.
The line of scrimmage would have resulted in a field goal attempt of about 56 yards. Instead of trying to put it on the QB, put it on the person who screwed up and cost the team 5 yards for too many men in the huddle.

From what the broadcasters were saying, Longwell had been hitting from about 52 during practice, meaning this was longer than his range might have been. What I'd like to know is whether or not Favre thought Rice would come back for the ball, since they ended up huddling together and talking after the play.

In looking at the replay he may have had a chance to run OOB at the 35. That would have positioned Longwell for a 54yd FG- a tough, tough kick.

That last drive by the saints was the worst streak of officiating and booth reviews I've ever saw. I'm not saying there was one call that was the worst ever, just that streak.....
...and if you dont respect Favre after that game, then you never will. The dude is a machine. Got broken in half, got up, got his legs and ankels destroyed (which is 100% a flag every time by the way) and still didnt miss a play.
Couldnt agree more. I have even more respect for him after yesterday's game. He is an absolute warrior.

As others have said already, Farve did play well yesterday while he did throw that poor throw at the end of regulation, he did play well. I'm still starting over the NFCCG in 2007, the start of the INT streak for him, though. I remember wanting to see the Packers win as I knew their nonexistent pass rush that year would have played out great for us in the SB. Instead he was like an INT machine at the end of that game, put in a quarter, pull the arm, and poof! the Giants had an INT. Living in the past still hurts....
Sure he will. It's just a matter of how many times... and whether he un-retires 1 time more than he retires...
Last year he came back in August, so this year he should be back around September after Jackson loses a couple games.

I've been a Favre hater since 96, like most Pats fans. The image of him running on the field with his helmet off still makes me angry. Him joining the Jets, and being part of keeping us out of the playoffs last year just added to my dislike for him. But I have to admit something happened last night watching that game, it started to feel less like a football game and more like a modern day Rocky, and I was actually rooting for him. Unfortunately, it ended just like the last Rocky, he went the distance, but didn't win. Favre isn't going to get the end scene with him holding up a final Lombardi.
