Default Week 17 was a great week for Bill Polian

With Welker, and now Cromartie hurt in games that meant little to their teams, Polian looks smart for benching his starters.

I still think he made the wrong choice, but he can just go look, Welker, Cromartie both got hurt, and there's no argument against the logic of his decision really. He didn't want to risk his players health.

Welker was hurt on the opening drive. If Wes were on the Colts, he would have been playing on the opening drive.

Polian's philosophy is not justified and is a contributing factor to their 6 one-and-done playoff appearances this decade.

Also, they also left in Dallas Clark and Reggie Wayne to get to 100 receptions. But... technically their 100th catches were laterals, not forward passes, so should be counted as rushing attempts rather than passes. It won't happen, but that is what they were.

polian's philosophy creates playoff failures

in 2006 they played to the whistle and won it all

when they rest too early, they don't win the sb

that simple

i've tracked sb winning qbs back to 1999 , and all of them play either 20 attempts or more in week 17, or they got yanked at around 14 due to injury (big ben in 2008 season week 17)

or in tb's case in 2002, their starting qb had to sit week 16 and 17 due to an injury
