Default OT: Seattle coach Jim Mora throws kicker under the bus

Seahawks Insider - Mora: Mare’s missed kicks ‘unacceptable’ The News Tribune Blogs, Tacoma, WA

Quote:
However, Mora saved his anger for kicker Olindo Mare, who connected on four of six field goals today, but missed wide left from 43 yards at the end of the first half. Mare also pushed a 34-yarder wide left that would have given Seattle a 16-14 lead midway through the third quarter.

There's no excuses for those. If you're a kicker in the National Football League you should make those kicks -- bottom line. End of story. Period. No excuses. No wind, doesn't matter. You've gotta makes those kicks.

Especially in a game like this, where you're kicking and fighting and scratching your tail off and you miss those kicks, it's not acceptable. Not acceptable. Absolutely not acceptable.

We're not going to fight our ass off, and have a field goal kicker go out there and miss two field goals and lose a game. It's not going to happen.
God damn pathetic of Mora.

More needs to (Please be quiet - edited) and do his job. It is HIS responsibility to make sure the team is ready every week. If he isn't satisfied with the players he has, cut them, trade them, do a better job drafting, whatever. What is the point of flipping out because you have a ****ty player on your team that you are relying upon? It's a reflection of the job he is doing. That would be like Belichick flipping out to the media about Galloway when he is the one who stuck with him.

Update: Well that didn't work out as I had planned. Next year baby, next year 19-0 we go. Next year.

Really inspires confidence. Mora is an idiot with no self control. I'm surprised somebody hired him.

He's as inspiring as his loser father. What does that kind of slam do to put your team in a healthy state of mind? Nothing. Just the opposite.
Get a new kicker or shut up.

I do have my own criticism of Mare.

Quote:
"They pay us to do our job and that's part of my job," Mare said. "That's part of my job and I didn't do it very good."
That's "do it very well", Olindo. Why compound a bad situation with poor grammar?

I was about to defend him by saying he's from another country, but he was born in Florida.

At least his English is gooderer than his kicking.

And yeah, Mora is throwing him under the bus, but I'd be surprised if they didn't bring someone else in. It's obvious the coach isn't thrilled with the player.

Pretty funny, actually, when you consider a FG attempt is a sign of a failed drive. Six FG attempts in a game indicates a problem much worse than a 66% kicker.

That’s what we always do, and I think the last nine years we’ve put a pretty competitive team out there on the field every year. I think that’s how you do it – you get good football players. Sometimes they are not always at the No. 1 position, but I don’t think you pass up good football players to get the guys who aren’t as good just because they’re at a position that somebody feels you need.”

Well, at least he didn't refer to him as "all liquored up..."

Mare should have returned the phrase by saying.

Quote:
