I think it's funny that Green Bay went through hell to keep Favre from Minnesota, and Green Bay missed the playoffs, while Minnesota won the division. Meanwhile, the Jets get Favre, and stink, while Miami picks up the Jets discarded garbage, and wins the division.
I don't know when it happened, but at some point in his career at Green Bay, Favre decided he was the defacto head coach/general manager of the Packers. He would demand certain players be signed or resigned (Moss for example). He tried to get Steve Mariucci hired as the Packers' head coach and pouted when they didn't (and remained bitter up to the very end about it). At some point, Favre stopped caring about the team and started to only care about Favre. That went all the way down to giving him his own separate lockerroom area (talk about building team unity).
I used to respect the guy, but he has become everything that I hate about the sports. He turned into an ego maniac, premadonna who thinks he is bigger than the team and his teammates. If he didn't have such a great relationship with key members of the media (yes, Maddon, King, and Mortensen I mean you), he would be as much or more a pariah as TO is.

iam listening to mike francesa on the WFAN and according to him such a quick firing usually means its the QB who they wanted to keep and prolly had to make the decision to keep him happy. i wouldnt be surprised at all.
In fact i wouldnt be surprised if now favre lobbys for mariucci.
i hope they do bring mooch in. We wont have to worry abt the jets for another couple of yrs then.

If the Jets fired Mangini to cater to Favre's whims, they are dumber than I even thought they were. It has nothing to do with how I feel about Favre, but you don't make coaching moves based on the desire to keep a 40 year old QB who hasn't even committed to come back and play another year happy. I really doubt the Mangini firing had to do with Favre. I am betting it is on Woody Johnson wanting to make sure he can sell those PSLs.

francesa is wrong. They cut Mangina so quickly to placate the fanbase, who at this point is rabid and out for blood (who can blame them). It's the only way to save Tanenbaum (who deserves the axe as much, if not more).
No way Mangina could have stayed. Fav-re is toast. He's going to retire in disgrace.
No question Favre has been humbled at this stage of his career. Hell I don't think the fans in Green Bay are stupid enough to want him back if they had the choice today. I'm really surprised Turdbaum didn't get the axe as well.

if you heard the press conf today, they want favre back. woody johnson was making excuses that favre will have a full training camp now which he didnt have before. said the choice of not having an MRI before is upto the player. How ridicolous is that ?
Favre may look and feel finished now but he is very savvy with the media so he knows he can come back and stink it up and still no one in the media will criticize him. instead he will complain of lack of WRs etc and get away with it. its all about money.even before he signed with the jets he demanded more money first. more than the 12 mill ???
Most importantly, will the front office have enough guts to bench favre if the new coach comes in and says so ? i dont think so.
i bet the jets interview mooch.
