Not quite true. I have no problem giving Peyton the credit he deserves. Peyton plays consistently well (even without Harrison for most of last year.)Eli has shown moments of true talent and good decision making, but never over the course of an entire season and last night did give any indication that he has improved much. Granted it is the first week and we cannot jump to any conclusions, but he really did not make a case for himself last night.

Another thing that made Eli look bad last night was that... we hate the little bastard! LOL

Both teams looked like garbage last night. I want to say that Eli was either rusty or he's reverting back to his old ways but either way he looked terrible. 'Skins dropped three would-be interceptions and caught another. If all of those were caught, Manning would have had one of the worst nights ever as a pro quarterback. Just sloppy all the way around. The only unit that looked great on the field at times was (of course) the Giants defense. It doesn't even appear as if they have skipped a beat losing both Strahan and Umenyiora.

It is more the coach's fault than Campbell but Jason wasn't very good. I saw him basically slide into Tuck early in the game and his throws were pretty damn awful. And he insisted on throwing to receivers 5 yards in front of the 1st down marker on 3rd down. I can't even imagine how irritated Redskins fans were from watching that trash.

Also, couldn't Campbell change the plays when they were running HB Dive down 2 scores with 3 minutes left?

Well, I switched off at half-time and I'm glad I did.

I'd had as much Manning/Superbowl stuff as any human being should be expected to stand.

Boy, did Spagnuolo make a good decision. Having to take over a franchise with an inadequate quarterback, co-ordinators in place, a Vice-President of Football (or whatever) who has no record of success -- and an interfering owner. Not where you want to start as a head coach.

I thought Eli looked great in the first half. Skins started putting a bit more pressure in the 2nd, and his receivers were obviously not on the same page. It looked like Eli was outthinking his peers.

As for the dropped picks, it happens. Peyton has benefitted from it, and so has Tom. The one thing that seems to get lost for Eli is, his receivers DROP a ton of catchable balls as well. Maybe not last night, but the last few seasons he has been the victim of quite a few of them.

With the dropped picks, yes, every quarterback benefits from them, just as every quarterback suffers from tipped balls that go for interceptions and dropped passes. Eli just has had an inordinate amount dropped, to his great benefit, since the Giants went on their run. He could have coughed up the games against the Cowboys and Packers had they held onto his errant passes, not to mention the two easy and one difficult opportunity for picks in the game winning Superbowl drive. Any of those are caught, and we're talking about how Eli is still trying to prove himself. I don't think I've ever seen such a run of luck by a quarterback in that department in all my years watching football. It's bound to turn around, and when it does, if he isn't taking better care of the ball, eventually people will catch on that he's still the same Eli.

I think that's one of two things. Either he throws a bullet which is hard to hang on to unless you know when it's coming, or he doesn't throw a tight spiral. I haven't watched a lot of him, but I would guess it's the latter, as his other receivers (besides Burress) seem to drop their fair share too.

Well, I don't know. Not sure where you can get stats on dropped picks. Certainly, easier to forget the ones that benefit the hometown QB, and easier to remember the ones that hurt the hometown team. I guess I have always been a little lenient when it comes to QB's and how I see them in terms of talent. TB and PM are the cream of the crop, another level if you will, but O think there are plenty in the league that have the talent and ability to win consistently. Eli is one of those guys.
