Pick values of bottom of round 3 pick, plus ALL second day paicks - 116, 44, 28.4, 15.6, 3
Total value = 947 points, or 153 points short. You would be short the value of another high 3rd round pick or the Pats 2nd round pick to match up values.
So basically you wanted to trade the Patriots ENTIRE draft for Revis. I'm sorry, Mike Ditka, when did you change your name and start posting here?
Like I said, wishful thinking. The fact is that second day picks have VERY LITTLE value. And people bemoaning how they were wasted and dreaming that they would even come close to allowing us to jump the Jets for Revis are dreaming.
Again to summarize in case you missed it with all the numbers flying by, the combined value of ALL the Pats second day picks was approximately 91 points. Not even worth a 3rd rounder, and nowhere near enough to make a serious move up. Not to mention, if we don't have a 4th rounder for the Moss trade, that move never happens and he's still rotting in Oakland instead of breaking record books with the Pats. And oh our 2nd round pick was gone to pay for Welker.
Hmm would I rather have Revis, or Meriweather, Moss, and Welker? Tough one, lemme get back to you on that...

Hmmm. You may have a point, I guess I was overvaluing some of those picks. Still, they wasted 109 tradeable draft points last season, the equivalent of a late 3rd rd pick, on drek (4.28, 6.6, 6.28, 7.1). If they had invested that toward Revis instead (1.24+3.27+ 4.28, 6.6, 6.28, 7.1) it would have left them only 115 points shy of landing him, the equivalent of an early future 3rd rdr, while still keeping #28, trading for Moss + Welker, and drafting compensatory selections Oldenburg, Hairston, Hilliard, and Elgin. Hypothetically speaking, would you rather have Meriweather and our early 3rd rd pick in 2008, or Revis? Right now I'd have to go with Revis. Hopefully Revis will go bust and Meriweather will turn into Ed Reed, and all these questions will be moot.
