Re: Day 2 = Sheard
Instead of Sheard, Reed or Carter from NC (their potential looks like maybe a half step better than Ninkovich):
Trade #33 to SF for their 2nd round pick and their 2 4th round picks.
If Bill thinks Wisniewski is the C of the future, draft him before the Raiders can.
If not, try Marcus Cannon (tub of goo from TCU).
With #56, another G; example: Will Rackley.
With pick #60, TE Housler from Florida Atlantic. Convert him to Outside Receiver. 6'5", 244, 40-4.51 if he dropped to 224, what do you think his time would be?
With pick #74, Dontay Moch. If he can be taught some techniques, he'd be awesome.
With pick #92, BRBA.
With the picks from the 4th, 5th and 6th rounds, Mark Herzlich, BC (OLB); Brandon Bair, DE (Oregon)- he only needs weight; Keith Darbut, OLB, D-3, Baldwin Wallace-6'4", 229, 40-4.40, 10'6" broad jump, 38" vertical, 225 lb. x 26. He could replace Slater until he is developed; Jah Reid, OT, as a backup; and pick up a QB of the future.
That's what I'd want instead of Sheard. Plus, any picks we get next year for trading Mankins, Kaczur, Meriweather, Butler, Slater, Tully Banta-Cain, we should be able to get a 2nd, a 3rd and maybe a couple of 7ths, plus the compensatory pick for Matt Light.
Next year, Penn State has a good looking OLB, there's a few good looking DEs and, if need be, draft a C. With all the money we'd save from not signing Light, Mankins or keeping TBC, we could even think about signing a kid named Fitzgerald from Arizona.
That's what I'd rather do.
