Default Exciting news: Liuget rising up draft boards

While I fully expect Carolina to take either Fairley (preferred choice) or Bowers with the first pick in the draft, I am seeing Liuget being mentioned more and more as the second DT being picked.

Why is this exciting? Because it means that Dareus could potentially be a possibility for us, especially since we have the ammunition to trade up if need be. Not saying BB would do it, but I am saying the more Dareus falls, the more tempting he becomes for BB.

What Dallas does at #9 could determine a lot about how the draft falls for us.

I just can't see Dallas passing on him. Combine Ware and Dareus and you have a nice combo for years to come.

Personally I was hoping if we were going to lose Mankins that we drop our 2 1st rd demands and just take the 9 pick from Dallas. They get a proven probowler and we take our chances with Dareus. We keep 17 28 and 33 and we are still able to fix the oline with 2 picks and have the luxury of grabbing best avialable whether it be RB WR, or defensive player, trade etc with the rest. That is quite a haul.

Another scenario since many think a "simple pro bowl guard like Mankins" is not worth giving up a 1st would be to swap 9 and 28 or 33. Myself, I think Mankins is way under valued.

There are other options in this draft though. It is deep with what the fans are looking for. But are the coaches? I wouldn't be suprised to se them go all out offense and pick up defensive players with the later picks. That would cause a stir around here..

I'd immediately have my broker pick up several hundred shares of InBev.

That's a lot of beer. Just make sure you clear it first with Martha Stewart.

Martha Stewart drinks beer? Oh, wait. Maybe she picked up the taste for it when she was doing hard time in the pen?

Actually, I wasn't proposing to drink it all myself. I just figured that, if the WR/RB 1st round scenario came to pass, the sheer volume of drownings of sorrows around here would cause enough of an uptick in the stock price for me to be able to get a couple cases out of the deal.

Actually, it's not entirely out of the question that Dallas would pass on Dareus. They may end up drafting Amukamara or may go outside the box altogether and grab a stud RB like Ingram considering Marion is falling out of favor in Big D. Plus, Shaun Rogers may sign with Dallas since Rob Ryan is the new DC and would be at the very least a stop-gap solution on the D-line.

While watching some Bama games a year ago, I didn't think Dareus was that much better than Deaderick. Certainly not worth a top 10 pick. This year, he seems to have gained weight and gotten slower. So I won't be surprised if he falls out of the top 10 and I can't really say he deserves to be up there.

So how far would Dareus have to fall before BB goes up and gets him? #12? #14?

I could see Dareus falling to #17 and Bill passing him up there. I think he's a 4-3 UT in the NFL, and there's a lot fewer 4-3 teams than there used to be.
