Plus those TCU cheerleaders aren't too bad to look at,,,
Two teams that beat each other up last year and had a really entertaining game, so far this is that kind of rematch and I'm loving this game.

I REALLY liked the ways Hughes played. It was clear that he had gap assignments and that he "did his job" on certain plays, but when he was allowed to rush the QB, he was going at the QB, full speed, on every snap! He made a big play going down the line stuffing the run and pulling the ball out. I thought that Boise had to double team him, but he seemed to move the pocket on every rush. His speed was amazing, and he had a few very nice rushes starting from a standing position.
I think that he could easily play DE or OLB for the Pats, and he has the tools to be a great force in the NFL.
No for the down side once he posts a serious 40 time at the combine, he is going to skyrocket up the draft boards far away from the Pats reach.

I am still not sold on his strength watching the game.....I know his responsibility was to contain the outside but when the OT got his hands on Hughes it didn't look like Hughes was good at getting off the block.....His pass rushing is great on the outside but when they ran a few stunts he got caught up with the Guard and got stuffed....I am not sold that he is more than just a pure pass rusher and we could maybe use him as a weak side OLB but not a DE or strong side OLB.....

That doesn't sound encouraging.
I didn't see the game, but my big concern with Hughes is his ability to set the edge and play the run. No doubt he's a nice outside pass rusher, but BB demands more than that from his OLBs.
I'd still much prefer someone like Austen Lane at weak side OLB, with someone like Greg Romeus on the strong side.

BB demands so much from his outside linebackers that he hasn't
found one to his liking in 10 drafts. Why will this year be any

That was my exact assessment as well. I haven't seen him a lot so maybe he has other moves that he didn't use last night, but he wasn't overly effective when the blocker was able to get to the spot and engage him. Seems like he needs a little more functional strength and technique work with his hands/leverage. Showed a lot of potential but needs a good amount of work as well.
Like you, I see him playing on his feet and rushing against a tackle in space. He seemed to hold up well against blocks but would need to be able to disengage better to be an every down guy for the Pats. That assessment (which is obviously IMO) would put him as a 2nd round option...not a great value using their 1st round pick.

different?
Because there are several guys who meet his stated criteria (size, length, ability to set the edge, play the run, play in space and rush the passer) who should be available in the 2nd round.
