Default WR Brandon Marshall 6'6"

http://www.couchscout.com/6wr.htm

WR ranking 54 --MARSHALL Brandon -University of Central Florida 6-4.3...222...4.72 -------- 332.44 Great Size, can catch Inside, Solid on Defense in 04

I don't know how old that write-up is, but he's in the Hula Bowl listed at 6'6". He reportedly awed the scouts and coaches with his performance in practice and he was the target of choice for the QB making some nice grabs. He beat press coverage with a nice physical move to score a touchdown. He also made a nice grab on a throw into double coverage where he caught the ball knowing he was going to be hit. He catches with his hands and he's strong.

What makes his really great from a Patriots' perspective, he played FS his junior year to help his team out - and led the team in tackles. He's a 1,000 yd receiver coming out his senior year. He was interviewed after his TD catch and told the sideline reporter playing FS helped him learn to be more physical as a WR and gave him a greater appreciation on how a WR could attack a defense.

Another scouting report from Sept 5, 2005:
http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/p...Prospect_ID=99

"This is a former defensive back that shows the physical toughness needed from his former position and he uses on the field these days.
He has the size, speed, burst and nice pass catching skills you would hope for, I also like his aggressiveness and lack of hesitation to get upfield after the catch, but I would like to see more (YAC) yards after contact and make things happen with more creativity."

UCF played their first bowl game ever in Hawaii against Neveda (who beat Fresno State the week after they played USC so tough). UCF put up a very good fight and nearly won the game if I remember correctly. Their coach is the one who lost his Notre Dame gig for fabricating his resume, he spent several years on Tice's staff in Minnesota.

Isn't this Asante's college?

I saw only the first drive of that game, and he definitely was the standout from the little I saw. Unfortunately that might move him up quite a bit in the draft. He does look like he'd be a good fit here, although I still think getting younger at LB and RB might be the biggest needs. Depending on who is re-signed at WR though, it could be a need.

Yeah I noticed this guy also he would be a good pickup for whoever drafts him and hopefully it is the Pats. I think the coach you are referring to is George O'Leary.

Sounds right Joe, I know I actually had some momentary respect for Tice when I learned he was smart enough to give this guy a chance on the rebound off the Notre Dame error. Nice to see him bounce back and take his little school to a bowl game.

The Huddle likes this guy a lot, claims he has first round talent and expects him to climb up the ratings after draft workouts.

I became a Brandon Marshall fan after watching him catch 11 passes for 210 yards and 3 TD's in a bowl game loss to Nevada (great game, 49-48 final). Man this guy was dominating, and I doubt he runs a 4.72, probably a 4.6 at worst. He looked like a gamebreaker, and I wrote that name down immediatly. He is definately my sleeper pick, and I was hoping ONLY the Pats scouting staff would know about him, lol.

He played too agreesively, and in the NFL would draw many PI calls. He's also pretty slow, and remember who he was playing against, the Hula Bowl has much weaker competition than the Shrine game adn especially the Senior Bowl. Early Day 2 prospect, may slip into Round 3 if he runs well. And he's 6"4, not 6"6.

Why would you want a WR S-L-O-W-E-R than your TEs?
