The score is tight because plenty of "hurt, but not injured" players play extremely limited play.
For example:
Mankins and Volmer dress, but don't play. Welker starts but doesn't play after the first qtr. Spikes is the same story as Welker. We even see Mallet in the late 4th qtr.

I've seen 1-15 and 2-14 twice. I've seen the Patriots as relevant underdogs, hated favorites, and absolutely irrelevant. Hated is not the best, but it far, far, far from the worst.
