Default Trading Ryan Mallett in the Off - Season

What do you think about the idea. Brady has atleast 4 good years in him and next years QB class looks atrocious compared to the last years (the last 2 years have been extremely good) and many teams still need a QB.

Jacksonville Jaguars
New York Jets
Arizona Cardinals
Kansas City Chiefs

are in dire need right now with

Buffalo Bills
San Diego Chargers
Oakland Raiders

needing to develop a QB.

With so many teams at need for QBs what do you think could we see him leave in the off season? I think a high 2nd rounder could very well seal the deal. Next year is his 3rd year as a Pro and I believe he sees that his chances starting for the Pats is rather slim (as high as Brady getting injured for a long period)

I like the idea, but I think you're dreaming if you believe we're going to get a high second rounder for him...

Don't see him leaving. He's on a cap friendly contract. We have no immediate need on our team besides WR, maybe OL. But we can take care of that with our current picks. I don't think anyone will give us a 2nd for him but stranger things have happened.

Lousy idea ... if Brady goes down then we need him.

We can keep him around an extra year by throwing money at him now.

The idea has merit. Tebow and Cassel should be available next year, so QBs that have worked with McDaniels could be brought in. You can take Kansas City off of your list though. I don't see any way that team's front office can sell another New England QB to the fan base.

The patriots need a backup QB for 2013 and 2014. With Mallett, Belichick was comfortable going without a 3rd QB, gaining a roster spot. If anything, we should consider extending Mallett if that is possible.

After what the Eagles got for Kolb I think anything is possible. He was high on many draft boards and fell because of "charakter issues". We need a back up QB of course but the way Brady is playing there simply isn't a QB that really could be his back up. Do you really think a back up could lead this team to a SB? Not that I have anything against Mallett but if we could get a good pick for him I'd seriously consider it.

the only way i see this happening is if we are getting a number one receiver in return.

Mallet for bowe/fitzgerald etc.

Teams that need a QB but have a stud wr.

Unless of course McDaniels gets another HC position and he trades a number 1 for mallet.
