Default Is 17 players on IR an NFL Record?

2012 Jacksonville Jaguars Statistics & Players - Pro-Football-Reference.com

Looking at the Jacksonville Jaguars to see what the match-ups will be, it was stunning to see the Jags' IR list and the other players who are active but out, including Maurice Jones-Drew.

Where do you look to see if this is a record? Can you imagine if the Pats had 17 on injured reserve?

The Pats need the win, but this won't be a fair fight this weekend. I feel bad for the fans down there and the organization. The Pats visiting in week 16 must have looked like a big game on their schedule. My hope is to just get a W and get out of there without any injuries.

I think the Packers in their SB winning season had 20+ players on IR.

This offseason, it's almost like Belichick is saying, "I'm never going to let that happen again."

I'm in hopes that this is a blowout by halftime and BB uses his head and put's the second stringers in preventing injury to the starters and giving second and 3rd stringers much needed "Just in case" reps in a game time situations Or...they could go out there..run up the score and pad individual stats and team stats...personally...I'd like to see a few passes going to Slater and Housusunmanuannamahahi via Mallet....ya know?

I don't know what the record is, but I know it's not 17.

The Jaguars ended last season with a total of 31 players on IR, six of with which they reached injury settlements.

Per the Colts tanking last season with mystery injuries and now the Jags, it really is time to get an NFL Draft Lottery implemented. I hope this gets addressed in the off season.

The word "is" modifies the phrase "an NFL Record," President Clinton. Maybe you could understand if it were asked:

"Is the NFL Record for the number of players on the IR 17?"

Whatever.

Now that I reread the topic, you are correct and I apologize for being a dick....sorry.
PS....verbs don't modify (slightly dicky)

That's okay, historians will be debating what the meaning of "is" is for centuries.

I agree. Even without Luck and Griffin at the top it can make rational sense to attempt to be a few notches higher in the early draft---the trade value of it alone is worth an extra loss or two in the waning weeks of the season.

Jacksonville "won" that Jet game by finding a way to lose it. I sure hope that Kansas City and Oakland are not playing this same game these next two weeks, but I have no reason to believe that losses are not more important to them than wins.
