Francis came in with a very strong relationship with Belichick son they were together at Rutgers that is hardly the depths..
I think we should allow Bequette some time before we judge. He has good size, good athleticism, high motor and based on recently winning a practice award he is a hard worker.
Tom Brady won the Super Bowl the first year he was out there playing. I wouldn't level that with giving Jake Bequette more time to develop. Brady was also one of the backups to an All-Pro QB in his rookie year. No such player stands in the way of Bequette.
I was simply saying that typically (there's always exceptions) players don't suddenly get it. There's always a hint, and we have no hints with Bequette. The reference I always use is how everyone (large percentage of posters here) wanted and hoped to the point that they believed that Pierre Woods was going to transform from a backup/special teamer into a good OLB once he was the starter simply because he was the starter. We never saw anything he did on the field that made us think Pierre Woods is anything special or even anything respectable.
Being a UDFA is the depths, but Francis was getting a lot of acknowledgement from very early on in the preseason.

So you're telling me we have a Clay Matthews 2.0 on the N.E. Patriots and BB is not playing him? I want BB tarred and feathered as we speak!

umm.. I didn't realize that a WR who ran 4.38 was slow.
As for Bhelmet and his Johnny-Come-Lately 2 cents, most of what he's saying is just a rehash of what NFLDraftScout.com said about Bequette.
Contrary to the OP, Bequette HAS seen the field this year. He's played in 2 games. Reality is that Bequette was a lot less polished than Jones and seen more of a long term project who would have to put a lot of time and effort into his development. Probably as a 3-4 OLB more so than a 4-3 DE.

Dick Rehbein, who was the QBs coach, was sent to scout both Brady and Tim Rattay. During the draft, with both Rattay and Brady still on the board, Rehbein was asked who he would chose. Rehbein said Brady. And that's who they took.
Bequette isn't as quick or fast, is more powerful, doesn't have pass rush moves, doesn't have good length, is known for having a nonstop motor, and doesn't have prehistoric exoskeletons tattooed on his arm.
How are they similar?
Gotta love people who claim Bequette doesn't have good length. The guy is 6'4 and 1/2" tall and his arms measure 32" long. How is that not "good length"??
