And I think that this statement is very telling about the potential production that we can expect from Fells/Schiancoe...which will be
blocking, as opposed to what many think in terms of trying to replace the
receptions.
If we can get most of the production that Gronk gave us in blocking alone, this offense should be pretty much the same. I just do not see either one of Fells or Schiancoe suddenly stepping up and coming anywhere close to the kind of production in receptions that Gronk has brought.
This offense is tailored to play to strengths, and they will utilize the strengths of players like Welker, Hernandez, Llyod, etc. Production from some of the other players such as Woodhead, Edelman, and even Vereen will be needed also, with Ridley turning it up a notch in the running game. I believe in the "move" offense theory that mayoclinic has spoken of, and I think that is what the strengths are, and that is what we'll see.
If we can get about 75-80% of the blocking, I don't care if it's Hooman, Fells, or Schiancoe because it won't matter. I could be wrong but I just don't see any one of them contributing too much in a reception standpoint--aside from maybe a key catch here or there sporadically.
