If Peyton throws 50 touchdowns, I'd be okay with him receiving the MVP, even if all of those came inside the 3-yard line. The situations aren't even remotely comparable. Nice try, though.
In each one, he completed over 60% of his passes, threw for more than 300 yards, and in neither case did he have more INTs than TDs.
Again, these were his two *worst* games of the year, by quite a bit.
That's amazing.
I think if you were to compare absolute A+ games among the Elite QBs you might find someone better then Brady but when it comes to consistently week in and week out great QB play there is none greater. Those numbers are the kind that get over looked when comparing QB's not only how great are they on their good days, but how awful are they on their bad days. There is a reason that Brady has the best win percentage of any QB in history, it's his consistency. So thankful he is the Patriots QB because every week I think we have a great chance to win. I can count on one hand the number of games I would say Brady was a major reason for a loss... they happen, he's human, but they are very rare.

Yeah because 2012 Manning is comparable to 2007 Brady right? In 2007 we had 14 rushing TD's, the Bronco's have 5 so far. If Manning throws for 50 TD's and 9 interceptions I'll deliver the MVP trophy to him myself.
Don't complain about throwing inside the 10 because that's what got Brady his 50.

What are you even talking about? Had Brady gotten 50 touchdowns throwing a lot of them inside the 10-yard line, and another quarterback threw 45, while his team rushed for 20 TDs, and he hardly ever passed the ball when near the endzone, a very good argument could be made that the second QB had the better season. That's all that's being discussed here. Nobody is saying there's something inherently wrong with throwing the football on those situations, just that it's a factor that should be taken into consideration when deciding which quarterback is having the best season. That's all.

Not exactly. For his career, he has 60 TDs from 3 yards out or fewer out of 321 (18.7%). In 2007 he had 11 out of 50 (22%).
This year Manning has 6 of 24 (25%).

Exactly. Manning is doing it at about the same rate as Brady did in 2007. Complaining that it's inflating his stats is pure sour grapes. Find something else to whine about people.

In 2007 Brady was the undisputed MVP, no other player in the NFL even came close to playing as well as he did over the course of the season. Can you really say the same for Manning now? You are trying to compare two situations that aren't even remotely similar.
