Default Offensive tendency breaking confused Rams

Brief but insightful analysis by Matt Chatham today on NESN Daily re., how the Pats offense kept the Rams off balance Sunday. He pointed out that the Patriots executed contrary to established formation/situational tendencies on several key plays, including Lloyd's first touchdown catch, a short-side run by Ridley, etc. Great work by McDaniels.

This can't be. Several well placed sources on PatsFans.com have told me that McDaniels sucks.

Blasphemy. It was all Brady and Welker. McDaniels can't be credited with a win on this board...only with a loss.

well, thats what happens when you leave for Denver to be a Head Coach and end up sucking, getting fired, going to St Louis and getting fired again.... then coming back and have an awkward looking offense that stalls in 4th qtr's and can't score points when they need it the most.

Lets not give McDaniels much credit. He was garbage when he left the Pats..... his offences in New England rank highly because he's inherited offenses that were already top notch before he came along

McDaniels didn't get a fair shake in Denver, and Fox/Elway are benefitting hugely from McDaniels' tenure there. Without his 2010 draft, that team would be in the cellar. Without him having the balls to stand up to Cutler, that team would still be swirling the drain with that crybaby under center.

He went to a situation where his team's two best players either wanted (Marshall) or needed (Cutler) to go, and he got the shaft because the team took a short-term hit once they were moved. He was a first time coach who didn't get a chance to grow with the job because the owner couldn't handle some short term adversity.

The list of OCs who are better than McDaniels is a short one, if it exists at all.

Interesting thread.

I re-watched the game and apart from looking at Chandler Jones (BTW i recommend this as i didn't realise watching the 1st time how much he was having his way with the Tackles of St Louis... bradford just did a great job of letting the ball go early)

The second thing i noticed is how often Welker was open... Gronks TD welker's wide open, 3rd down catch to Gronk... Welkers wide open e.t.c

Maybe some of Bradys decisions where to throw are based on in a small part a larger goal to break tendency. hmmm bit of food for thought a si would have thought it would usually be just get the ball to the open guy.
