Wouldn't mind seeing Bolden in there, do some damage. Wear 'em down with the 1-2 punch.
I'd like to see Bolden in there too, but I think Ridley and Woodhead (and possibly Vereen) can exploit that run defense.

Just a walkthru today so means very little but still at least those hurt on sunday can be removed from the serious injury list.

Of which the most critical may have been Slater. He was an absolute beast on STs all season but in particular last week in keeping Leon contained. And it was no small coincidence that the very first return after his injury was a big a return. I am fully convinced that had Slater not got hurt we would not have let up such a big return and who knows without the big play to fire them up and more distance needed to drive maybe they dont succeed.

Which makes me wonder why does it always seem that our injuries come at the worst times and directly lead to losses. Like last year with Sergio the guy comes in for one play and gives up the game winning play. or Sunday with the above mentioned return or with the two rookie safeties getting beat for the TD.

A bunch of twitter reports are appearing now regarding the injury report.

- Brandon Bolden and Tracy White did not practice on Wednesday

- Hernandez, Gronk, Hightower & Mankins all among the limited for Patriots at today's practice.

- Pats reported 2 DNPs (Bolden & White) and 11 limited. Kyle Love (knee) had full participation.

- Patrick Chung (shoulder) and Sterling Moore (knee) added to injury report as limited. Also, Steve Gregory (hip) limited in return

- Shane Vereen, Justin Francis, Brandon Deaderick, and Michael Hoomanawanui were removed from the injury report

- WR Brandon Lloyd not on Patriots injury report after landing hard on shoulder late Sunday. He returned to game.

- Before drawing any sweeping conclusions about #Patriots health based on injury report, just a reminder that it was a walkthrough today.

- Bolden/White did not practice. Love full partic. Chung, Edelman, Gregory, Gronk, Hern, Htower, McDonald, Moore, Vollmer, Welker limited.

On the topic of Bolden it just highlights the Vereen disappointment. His injury had a major negative effect on the run game Sunday as Ridley was mostly ineffective. Why can't the guy get reps whatsoever, at the very least he should be able to return kicks where we probably have one of the worst KR games in the league.
The 2011 2nd round black hole is glaring so far this year.

I didn't like the 2 RBs in 2 consecutive picks thing (I had 5 positions of need that I thought each merited a high selection) and, if they wanted to double up on a position, they could have drafted two of the Titus Young/Torrey Smith/Randall Cobb trio and essentially rebuilt the WR corps in one swoop.

No team is ever going to hit on 100% of it's picks. RB was a need, and the need one take two philosophy is sound. Minimizes bust potential, some times it works out spectacularly (Gronk/Hernandez).

I was responding specifically to what patsinthesnow, which was about the "glaring hole" from round 2 of 2011, and the team sure didn't need to draft 2 RBs. Other positions had obvious needs, as well. As people here are so very fond of saying, you can get lucky with a running back in any round.

My mentioning the receivers, though, was just to point out that the entire corps could have been made over. This team could currently have a group of

Welker
Smith/Young
Cobb/Young
Edelman
WR5/WR6(?)

for example, which would not only be solid for now, but would be strong for the future, as well. Instead, we've got Dowling and Vereen, two players who have been more brittle than flowers dipped in liquid nitrogen.
