Re: Patriots Set to Have Free WiFi Available At Gillette Stadium During This Weekend'
I hope the Patriots have done their homework on this. I'm sure that they have, but I'll lay out what happened with us. I work for a Big 10 University as a WLAN engineer. The athletic department worked with AT&T to have stadium wide wifi installed. It was tested with the team's CoachComm system (used for coaching headset communication to the booth) and they found that the AT&T wifi interfered with the CoachComm system. So an easy enough solution was to have the wifi closest to the field turned off. But along comes gameday and the CoachComm system doesn't work for reasons I am not privy to. I'm sure that this was the first time the system was tested with such heavy load and with so many phones, devices, etc transmitting the wireless bands were saturated. Needless to say the head coach gets pissed and eventually AT&T shuts down the whole network.
