Default Awesome Kevin Faulk article sounds like sendoff

His teamates seem to sense what is coming, or more to the point not coming. And have some incredible comments about his career, especially Brady. He will only sign here but at 36 there is no indication that here will sign him. Although with the 90 man rosters I wouldn't be surprised to see him signed for TC for competitive (mentoring) purposes if he continues to just hang it out there. Would probably have to be with an understanding that he retire rather than force a cut if and when the time comes because they are probably reluctant to put themselves in a place where they'd have to cut the best third down back ever.

Quote:
“Greatest” doesn’t fit. Neither does “most explosive” or “most versatile.” All those things are too subjective. But when one says “successful,” measurables are entered into the conversation. Statistics. Championships. Years served.

And those are the things that set Faulk apart from the other electrifying players who served in similar roles.

What sets Faulk apart from all of those guys, though, is his longevity and his championships. Only Meggett played in close to as many games of import. And he was never the full-on offensive focal point Faulk was when the Patriots needed plays made.

“I get chills thinking about Kevin and thinking about the plays he’s made over the course of his career,” said Brady. “The moments against the best players in the biggest games."

Curran: When it mattered, reliable Faulk was ready

Now Faulk is someone who should be in the Pats HOF, not Moss. Faulk IS a Patriot.

The Pats HoF ballot is going to get very crowded! Look at all the players coming up soon!

But Faulk WILL be in there!

Faulk will likely leave the team like Bruschi did.

Kevin has been nothing but a wonderful player for this team his whole career and I would hate to see his career end by being cut/released...he needs to announce his retirement before that happens.

I don't think Kevin has much left in the tank and should not make the roster...let's hope he leaves the team on his OWN terms.

Kevin is as well respected a player that there has been in the organization during the BB era. I'm sure that if he wants, there is a place for him somewhere in the organization. For some reason that goes beyond my understanding, he wants to play again this season. Not gonna happen.....at least right now. I wouldn't be surprised though it if the Pats have told him to stay in shape in case the Pats are hit with a couple of injuries at the RB position. In the meantime I wouldn't be surprised if they will offer him something that will keep him around the team this season.

When his retirement finally occurs, and the tributes flow forth, there will a few people on this board who will remember the days when fans were calling for Faulk's immediate dismissal as in inveterate fumbler. It should be a lesson to us all.

I really do hope they tap him to be some sort of coaching assistant, even an informal one as Andruzzi recently appears to be. He has given all the signs of being one of those rare (these days because of earnings) birds who really wants to remain in the game and do some coaching. It's hard to transition them right into the pro ranks for lots of reasons, one of which is being too close to having been a teamate and peer out of the gate. But given the age differential here that might not be an issue, as it really isn't at this juncture with Andruzzi. Koppen is the lone remaining Olineman Joe played alongside. The rest are a relative bunch of pups. Then even if these guys branch out to college positions for a couple of seasons you're looking at guys who can be tapped down the road when they will be needed to keep the culture and the system running.

Love the guy so much. Makes me emotional to think of a Pats team without him.

Sounds like this being the end of the line for Faulk is Curran's analysis, which the players don't dispute. Wilfork takes Curran's word for it in the quote. Brady is more diplomatic.
