That would seem fairly reasonable. $9M/year makes Gronk the highest paid TE in the NFL by a wide margin, and it rips up 2 years of his rookie deal. But it gives the Pats long term security and it's probably well below what Gronk could get on the open market (probably Mario Williams kind of money).

We need to see the details. The total could be 6 or 8 years.

If its a legit 6 year extension, meaning it ends in 2019, it must follow the Mayo model with bonus money now, no new salaries this year and next and then everything increases after that. Gets Rosenhaus his name back out there and Gronkowski happy and probably at low cap costs through 2015 or 16. Its a really smart cap move by New England
