He won an offseason workout award, but that doesn't guarantee him a roster spot.

And let's not forget that the pick was by the reigning DPOY, not the likes of Cameron Worrell. . . .
I agree. It was kind of a "trick" play in that Taylor dropped from the defensive left and ran across the field to jump a slant route. Cassel threw the pick because Taylor wasn't anywhere in his field of view until the last second.

I think Belichick was pissed that he took his foot off the pedal and the Fins left Taylor in and essentially ran a modified zone blitz with him to screw with Belichick's plan to get his backup some work. He didn't put Brady back in to run out the clock and win the game...he put Brady back in to score and slap the Fins in the mouth.

Not excusing the pick Cassel threw, just putting it in context.

But it's still better than six interceptions in one game. . . .

Understood, I just thought the comment about his "lackadaisical" offseason seemed out of sync with that.

He said it OK, albeit perhaps a bit ambiguously. If he said 6 INT *for* 2 consecutive games, that would be different, but he said 6 *in* 2 consecutive games (as opposed to spread out with non-IT games inbetween).

Perhaps for 1 or 2 INT's, but not 6.

I was there yesterday morning for my lone trip, and based on my impressions, none of the backup QBs particularly stood-out. I'd say in terms of pure throwing the ball, Cassell was actually the least un-impressive. That's about as good as I can put it

Yes, but that was a heroic effort, shpwcasing that QB's leadership under pressure.

For the love of God, beleive it or not, not everything in Patsland smells like roses. Imagine that! LOL!

Can we agree that if Brady (God forbid) goes down for any real length of time, this team would STRUGGLE to make the playoff's.

He did not win an offseason award this year. That was 2007. The reason I said lackadaisical was in his interviews in the offseason made him seem complacent in his position saying these like "I’m the second best" and "this year is the same as every year". ( http://www.patsfans.com/price/blog/?p=407 ) To me someone who wants to be a starter in this league should have a little more enthusiasm especially in a contract year to prove themselves to the league that they can play. I wouldn't want to be second best even if it was behind TB. Maybe it's just the west-coast mentality he has, but if he doesn't show something this year he will be out of a job real soon.
