That would be a great scenario for the Pats. Bill Cowher is one of the most overrated coaches in pro sports. Those Steelers teams were always stacked, and he choked year after year in the big games. That SB he won was one of the biggest jokes I've ever seen with those admittedly biased refs. Cowher was just a cog in the wheel of a very successful organization. He is way too old school in his ways and will never adjust to the modern NFL. He also had Dick LeBeau, who was the much more valuable coach on the staff.
As far as Rexy goes, I can't stand the guy, but he is actually a very good coach. To go above .500 for four years with Mark Sanchez as your quarterback is pretty admirable. He is a great defensive coach and keeps the team motivated, even though his tactics are often embarrassing when they backfire. I think the Jets would make a huge mistake if they blame Ryan for the team's failures UNLESS he insists on maintaining personnel decisions (who is making them now?) In my opinion, the Jets biggest problem has been a completely inept talent evaluation program, from the draft to free agency. Mangini drafted Revis, Mangold, Ferguson, Harris, and Keller. Thus far, under Ryan the Jets have merely plugged holes by overpaying free agents with Tanny's "genius" backloading of contracts, which is another way of saying "let's wait one more year before this thing blows up."
Whoever is in charge of talent evaluation should be gone without question.
