Actually, yeah I do think the NFL has the power to tell Bob Kraft not to build a casino. Such bylaws already exist regarding NFL owners not being allowed to get involved in gambling interests. The Rooney family had to restructure ownership of the Steelers to avoid a conflict with the fact that they also owned casinos.

That is why Kraft is doing everything he can to make it clear that all he is doing is "leasing the land" to Wynn and not getting any sort of personal stake in the business himself. Of course, if you believe that, I have some great oceanfront property in Foxboro available to sell you. You'll be close to the both the beach and the casino!

If sports books were available in every state, as much as I would like to gamble on sports, all hell would break loose. I don't gamble but I would be a junkie on NFL games. There would be a lot more Tim Donaghy's around...or at least that is the fear.

Yeah... I wouldn't want to live near a sportsbook. I can see myself sitting around on a Sunday waiting for the Sunday night game to start convincing myself that Pittsburgh can cover 9 points in Kansas City... oh wait that happened last year when I was in Vegas.

Fortunately the Panthers were somehow only giving up 3 to the Colts that day so I came out ahead.

That's silly. In this day and age, sports gambling is available in all states, whether we are talking about the neighborhood bookie or the online offshore sports book. If it were made legal, nothing would change.

Anyone who has an internet connection lives near a sportsbook. It'd just be nice to have a local one instead of dealing with some of these offshored ones like Bovada (formerly Bodog).

I don't care about it either way and feel like it should be up to that county more than anyone else, I don't think it should be foisted upon them if they don't want it. However given the NFL's supposed stance against gambling, which is laughable, and past opposition to any desire for a team in Las Vegas, I don't see how they can go along with the idea.

This No Limit craze has seriously ruined poker. It's nearly impossible to find a good Stud or Limit Hold'em game these days. Even in Vegas it's really, really hard to find.

This is what I'm most worried about

I first voted yes, because I do enjoy gambling, and hate how far Foxwoods is (I live in Southie). But, I finally get my season tickets next year, and traffic is already crazy enough. I don't want it to get worse! Which it would unless they make some huge civil engineering overhauls.

It's available but you're taking on more risk with those type of places. At least that's my p.o.v.

That's true to a point. There are also more businesses along Route 1 that add to the traffic, but my point remains valid. The Casino wouldn't add much to that traffic. If it was a game day, I'd get there either hours before the game starts or after. Also people who go to the casino make a day of it. There isn't that high volume coming and going that causes jams.

Yes it would increase the overall volume of the highway, but not the degree that it would cause massive traffic problems that were out of the ordinary. If you want to list it as a "concern" fine, but it should be at the bottom of the list.
