Default Mock off-season (pre-combine)

Stole the idea from DI. Share your own as well.

Free agency: Resign Wes Welker, Connolly and Branch. Sign Cliff Avril, and acquire Mike Wallace and Dashon Goldson. Edit: This is assuming that Walters and Light return and Mark Anderson is re-signed. BJGE walks to open it up for Ridley and Vereen.

Draft: Dont'a Hightower 27th overall, Trade the 48th overall pick into 2013, Draft Brandon Boykin 63rd overall.

Ras-I and McCourty at Corner with Arrington/Moore/Boykin splitting time in the nickel. Goldson and Chung start at safety.

edit 2: Resign: WWW, Deion Branch, Mark Anderson, Dan Connolly, sign Mario Williams,

Draft: Fletcher Cox 27th overall, Kendall Wright 31st overall, George Iloka 48th and Boykin 63rd.

Resign Welker, Connolly, Waters, Anderson, Ihedigbo, Branch, Hoyer, Slater.

Sign Brandon Lloyd, Jordan Babineaux.

Draft Fletcher Cox (27th), Stephen Hill (31st), George Iloka (48th), trade other
2nd into 2013.

Realistic cap wise, problem being FS and and OLB slightly weak.

DE: Deaderick NT: Wilfork DE: Cox
OLB: Ninkovich ILB: Mayo ILB: Spikes OLB: Anderson/M. Carter
CB: Mccourty CB: Dowling SS: Chung FS: Ihedigbo/Iloka/Babineaux

Offense is all set and the WR core is loaded with Welker, Lloyd, Hill, Branch, Edelman, Slater.

Default Re: Mock off-season (pre-combine)

Re-sign Wes Welker
Re-sign Dan Connelly
Re-sign M. Anderson
Re-sign D. Branch to vet minimum

Not re-sign Law Firm, let Ocho go, assume that Light and Waters return.

Sign Mario Williams
Sign Braylon Edwards

1st round draft picks: Janoris Jenkins CB, Kendall Wright WR

Offence:

QB: Brady
RB 1: Ridley
3rd down/change of pace RB: Vereen/Woodhead
TE: Gronk/Hernandez
Line: Light Mankins Connelly Waters Solder
WR: K. Wright, B. Edwards
Slot WR: Welker

Defense:

Line: Anderson Love Wilfork Williams(4-3)
LB: Ninkovich Spikes Mayo Williams (3-4)
CB: I-Dowling, Jenkins
Slot CB: Arrington
FS: McCourty
SS: Chung

Drafting Wright and picking up B. Edwards on the cheap saves us lots of $ not having to go after a pricey FA WR like Lloyd, Wallace, or Colston. This frees up the money needed to get Mario Williams. Add Jenkins at CB and the issues we had last year (pass rush, secondary, deep threat WR) are all taken care of.

How do you acquire Wallace and not give up a 27th or 31st ???????

If you are collecting 4-3 Players(Avril, Andersion) why would you draft another LB when u have Mayo, Spikes, Ninkovich, Cunningham. And if you are picking 4-3 DL, why would you get a 3-4 Elephant in Mario Williams.

Failed mock

He does give up the 31st pick for wallace. In his Second edit (which is his alternate plan) he uses the 31st pick and does not include wallace.

Impossible scenario. 20-25 million is only going to get you so far.

Welker,Connoly,Branch,Goldson, Avril and Wallace along with the rookies is like 40 million.

This isn't going to be popular but here it goes,

Welker get's franchised and after turning down the patriots final offer of 6 million a year 18 million with the bulk back loaded is franchised and traded for a mid range second round pick out of the conference.

Light sees the writing on the wall with Vollmer and Solder doesn't like the stability and feels he is underpaid for the value he see's premier lineman couping, traded to the rams of colts for a second.

Benjarvis Green Ellis bulks at the contract the Patriots offer of 2.5 million and he cashes in elsewhere the kind of workhorse back the Cleveland Browns need after letting Hillis walk.

Andre Carter resigned minimum contract with incentives
Mark Anderson retained at 2.5 million a year for 2 year contract

Patriots retain Deon Branch at a league minimum contract with incentives,
Patriots sign Brandon Lloyd at 2.9 million a season for 3 years who is happy to be back with Josh Mcdaniels.

Patriots trade the number 31 pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers for the rights to Mike Wallace

Patriots sign a stable solid defensive back in Richard Marshall 2.2 million a year 3 year contract,

Patriots draft Harrison Smith at 27 some think it's a few spots to high but a great tackler with instincts ball skills and a knack to be in the right place at the right time gives us the free safety we haven't had since Geno Wilson was at the top of his game.

Patriots then draft
Whitney Mercelus
Brian Quick
Chandler Jones
That's a good start for now haven't fully decided the middle to bottom rounds of the draft yet.

No way does Light fetch a 2nd rounder. He's gonna retire in a year.

Lloyd will cost more then $2.9 mil per year, it will probably be at least $4 or $5 mil per year to get him.

I'm not arguing with your 40 million claim (I'm not going to look at it), but I believe the Patriots could have access to something over $30 million if they choose, less paid adjustments.

$20-$25 on the 'current' cap
$6 million brought forward if they declared for it
$2 million borrowed from next year if they wish it

That's $28-$33 million before adjustments (Bonuses, etc..), and it doesn't take into account potential restructures that could free up millions more.
