I agree with Kontradiction. I watched the Eagles game last year, and that's where their offense was striking- over the middle.
You could make the argument that the Chargers did so also in the playoff game; if my memory serves me correctly, Phillip Rivers targeted there alot too.
Linebacker is an area that needs speed and youth.

To be fair, Rivers targeted the secondary a lot more than the middle of the field.

At times I thought Seau was playing with more fire, speed, sharpness and stamina than a 24 year old last season. Amazing for a man of his age at that level.
BB/ Capers will approach each game based on the opponent and based on the situation so I'll feel better knowing Seau's around somewhere for the times we need him. He always gives 110% each and every time and he's smart. He made some tremendous plays last season- he's definitely still got gas in the tank and used wisely, he should have a few more this season.
He'll be back sooner or maybe later, but I think he'll be back
I hope he's surfing and enjoying his retirement. I'm in super dick mode today and I know I'm going to get flamed for this but I, for one, do not want him back. I appreciate what he's done for us but I've seen this defense get completely gassed at the end of two huge games. I want our defense as young and as fast as we can get it. If anything, I'd rather him come back in the event that injuries ravage our LB corps. But, if that doesn't happen, I want Junior to enjoy his retirement.
Seau didn't even play in the Colts AFCCG. Having old guys get gassed isn't a problem if you have depth. The problem was lack of depth more than age in the past- old guys had to play more than they should have been playing, due to injuries.

Uh... I didn't say that Seau played in the AFCCG. But I did say our defense was gassed. A valid point if you actually watched the game.

And if Seau HAD played, it stands to reason that they would have been less gassed, yeah? Which makes it pretty strange that you site this as an example for why you don't want him back. You're basically saying "because this team gets gassed at the end of big games due to its lack of depth at key position, I don't want them to sign any more depth".
Are you saying that you wouldn't want Seau in on our defense on third and short in the playoffs? No, he isn't an every-down player any more. He hasn't been for several years, and was only in that role last year because Colvin's injury forced him into it. But, in certain situations, he can still be very effective.
Jeez, calm the hell down.

I am calm. You're the one in here flinging around capitalized letters and such. I'm just saying that I want some youth on the defensive side of the ball. Maybe if you go back and read my posts, you'll see that I don't want Seau and Bruschi as full time starters. Here, let me help you...

So yes, I would have no problem with depth. I just don't believe it was depth that cost us that game. But you disagree so it's whatever.

That's what I was referring to.

Calm down comment referring to that. Everyone on this board watched that game, obviously. Saying that someone must not have watched the game because they don't agree with your assessment of it is pretty juvenile...
