Also, yes, Welker is miles better than Edelman, but he could be the slot WR. I still remember rookie Edelman pulling crazy moves on the Jets and Texans.
NoCatchO made $6 mill....why do you think superior WRs would settle for less?
the 2011

The Colts' offense is similar in the sense that the WRs adjust their routs based on the coverages they get. However, the Colts use minimal formations and little shifting. Most of the plays, Wayne would line up in the same spot. So that would be the one question about any Colts WR coming into this offense.

As strange as it may sound, it would not shock me that Pats sign BOTH Lloyd and Wayne if the window is there. I personally prefer a guy like Colston but he will cost $$$$$
Figure 6mill each for Wayne and Lloyd is better than 10mill on another one, and another useless 2nd rounder of 3rd round WR bust. Use the Draft to revamp the Defensive front 4 and Secondary.
Wayne made 6.5mill last year.
We're in the final lap of Brady's Career, its either now or never (2-3 years). Who the heck cares about how many picks we pile up in 2013, 2014, 2016.....and of cap issues 2014 and beyond. The Cap is going to goto 160mill in 2014 by which time Brady will have turned 37 and MAYBE, just MAYBE ready to pass the baton to a Mallett, or Mallett could be another Kevin O'Connell
BB needs to pull the trigger, penny pinching now will waste whats left of Brady, and the next Patriots QB could be a good one or a bust, and all those picks then will mean squat. Enough of these crap WR picks in the draft, or useless over the hill Stinko type; and Branch is no Reggie Wayne !

The FA WR market is loaded with younger, slightly better WRs then them. Vincent Jackson, Desean Jackson, Dwayne Bowe, Wes Welker, Marques Colston, Pierre Garcon, Laurent Robinson,Stevie Johnson.
I can't see Lloyd or Wayne making more than 6 mil with all those names.

This group would give them the ability to draft solely for Defense, bolstering a young group which, as it develops, will allow for a smoother transition to the next (Josh McDaniels/Ryan Mallet?) era Offense to take shape.
In a capped league with unrestricted free agency in 5 years or less, adherence to value is what gets you to 5 superbowls in an 11 year span. So does not thinking in terms of windows but rather always adhering to sound long term goals and principles. While this team has contingency transition plans in place at all times, it doesn't contemplate having to implement them in the forseeable future. Which is why they won't change their core philosophy of being long term investors as opposed to incessant window shoppers who can't withstand the urge to make the splashy short term purchase only ultimately to find themselves coming up consistently short and backed into a financial corner that doesn't allow them to do what is best for the organization long term at all times. Like the JETS. Why people want them to be something other than what they are is beyond me...

Welker is more concerned with winning than with getting every available dollar.
If he were, God forbid, to leave, it's far more likely he'd go to a contending team with a great QB than anything else. Would you want to see him end up a Packer? I sure as heck wouldn't.

Me either - I hope he is back, but I think it's a very real possibility that he might not end up back here next season.

What I stated above is the reason why Welker will be back: he's playing at such a high level right now that the cost of replacing him would outweigh any benefits.
