Default Sports Illustrated--Tyree play

Anyone see the article on the Tyree miracle catch in this week's SI? I managed to read it without vomiting, interesting article. They interviewed a bunch of people including Jarvis Green and the back judge, but didn't touch on the one thing that I thought was the most compelling in reviewing the play, that being, was Eli in the grasp? If you're going to talk to the back judge, why not talk to Mike Carey?

Note--I'm not saying the Pats lost this game because of poor officiating.

I thought everyone canceled their SI subscription about 10 years ago?

he wasnt in the grasp....it wasnt even really all that close, the jersey was grabed but for a second and never really in a way that Manning was in danger of being thrown down.

You might be able to argue holding but.......damn its a new season why am I banging my head against the wall

Did they overlook the fact that it was Asante who blew the coverage, making many people think Harrison was at fault on the play?

Let it go. "In the grasp" is a judgement call anyway. They judged correctly as he still made a play out of it. If not the Pats didn't play until the whistle. Either way, legit play.

Did they say anything about Ass-ante's inexplicable drop of an easy interception that would have won the game before Tyree would ever get a chance? ?? Two strikes against him, strike three being that it was an extremely half-hearted attempt at making that pick and he seemed to take an "it's-all-good" attitude afterword.

As I said before, he'd already earned his huge FA contract long before that game. For him, nothing really to be gained by HIS TEAM WINNING THE MOST MEANINGFUL GAME IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL at that point. If it would have happenend, just gravy on top for him personally. Newsflash, the Pats have no use for selfish players.

He's a good player and was a good Patriot for several seasons. That being said, good riddance. f

An easy interception? Yeah sure what ever you say. Had Asante re-signed with the Patriots i'm sure you would be like the majority of us that have said it would have been a difficult INT.

that interception was like someone was tossing him the ball in a game of catch.
