Ugh, Felger keeps trolling on about Ocho making 6 mil "guaranteed" this year...
...and it's so annoying. Because isn't it untrue?
Ok, so I was under the impression the 6 million dollar base was from Cincy. I could have sworn that I read about how the Pats made him restructure; thus making it way, way lower. In my head, I remembered it as being, like, two-million and change against the cap....
I just Google'd it. I believe my memory served me well. Across the board it seems like all the articles point to Ocho having a 1 million dollar base; that was set to increase in '12 and '13. Now it gets a little different.... Some point to a 4.5 mil signing bonus being upfront, thus being 5.5 total for this year. Other articles claim the bonus is only 1.5 a year over the 3 years - thus 2.5 mil for '11. So am I misunderstanding? Or is it simply a situation where the signing bonus money itself is indeed upfront (and now in Ocho's pocket); but it only counts against the cap at 1.5 mil per year?
