Default Not-so-pointless Patriots stats

Here's one to put Sunday's game into perspective:

Since the NFL-AFL merger, there have been 80 games in which one team had a 21-point lead after the first quarter.

The Patriots are the FIRST team in NFL history to trail by 21+ points after one quarter and win the game by double digits.

That's pretty crazy. But what's even crazier is they won by 28 points! Double digits can be as low as 11. But 28! I don't think that will ever, ever happen again.

But that's my point . . . not only did they end up +28, but the previous best was +8.

The whole team is so calm and collective. Having come back from 17 down and 21 down the past two weeks will go a long way in their confidence. If they trail in the playoffs there will be no sense of panic by anyone. Last year it felt like our offense was panicked during the Jets. I just don't see us losing that way this year....If we lose at all

Actually I think it could be as low as 10.

Great stats. I feel like it's almost flown under the radar that the Pats SCORED 49 STRAIGHT POINTS in that game. Just unreal.
Wax Frog likes this.

Nope... follow along.

Either zero is a digit or not a digit. (only two possiblities)

If zero is a digit, then 01 is double digits. And the lowest double digit number is 1.

But if you contend that zero is not a digit then 10 can't be double digits either and the lowest double digit number is 11.

Therefore 10 is NOT the lowest double digit number, either way.

Zero is a digit, but scientists do not count initial zeros as digits (except zero itself). The smallest double-digit number is 10.
SaCaCh and Le Numéro Douze like this.

You just got me thinking about something that has pissed me off the past week. All the mediots are using that 21 point outburst as a perfect example of why this defense will be the fatal flaw for the Pats this playoffs, while they simply ignore the 3/4's of shut out ball that followed. Its like they are saying that the defense was just as bad as in the first quarter, but some "anomalous factor" kept points off the board.

I can't wait for Pittsburgh to get on their their bye week and get here.

I know that. But you have to admit that is a novel way to prove that 10 is not the lowest 2 digit number.

I can also prove that 1 = 2. But if I did you would probably just complain that I divided by zero.
