Which, this season, is right in the middle of the pack.
You don't just longtime players based upon one season coming off injury. You should know that.

I have no issue with the kickers for the PATS or for the special teams play in general this year, it is much improved from last year. Ghost made a TD saving tackle last week, he gets kudos from me for that.

No, I just have issues with posters who feel they need to use put-downs like "silly" to describe other's opinions, and use words like "clearly" to indicate they words are akin to the Word of God, and use expressions like "people like yourself" to indicate their self-claimed superiority. In other words, bull***** histrionics.

Hey, all I said was that in my opinon, based on this year's stats, he's an average kicker. In fact what I did say was:

Yes, no player is perfect and makes every play, but he's had some frustrating, "I can't explain why" type of misses this season, as others have pointed out in this thread.

Agree.

Welcome to some people's hater's list.

+1.

There really aren't haters on this thread. It's just a label being thrown around, and about as effective as name calling at school recess.

I suppose we could all trade posts about how great every Pat is, but personally I think that'd make for a pretty boring experience. It'd be like Da Bears skit on SNL replayed ad infinitum.
Amazing multi-poster quotation response. How long did this post take?

There's no reason to hate Stephen Gostkowski, so I don't get this thread, really. All I know is that he made us stop missing HOFer Adam Vinatieri which is a tremendous accomplishment. I hope Tom Brady's successor does the same.

In 1964, Gino scored 155 ponts in 14 games? Are you kidding? In 1970, the Pats as a team only scored 149.

Since Gino was bashed pretty badly by some on this board last week (and he has lost his fastball in the announcing arena), here's a reminder to all of us of Gino's greatness as a player.

You really should read your own posts because you clearly were crapping on him.

Your status has nothing to do with anything so why bring it up? And you didn't challenge my opinion. You posted your own and did so without all the facts.. You've admitted to such. All I did was show how your opinion was flawed.

First off, great job taking my response out of context. I have referred twice to the Miami game thread where people were hating on Gostkowski. Instead of making assumptions, you really should read. It would help you quite a bit.

What I claimed was deep knowledge about quad muscle atrophy and how long it takes to actually recover from an injury such as Gostkowski suffered. Again, the person with the problem is you because you keep making assumptions about things that just weren't said. And, no, I did not label you a hater. Again, an ignorant assumption on your part.

I didn't cherry-pick anything. I put up the relevant stats. What is laughable is you thinking that an 83.9% completion is "average" when 84.3 is good for 6th best ALL TIME. If anything, it was you who decided to cherry-pick things with your claim that 83.9% is "average".

The problem is that you didn't see me call everyone who disagreed with me a "hater". Nor did you see me call YOU a hater. That goes back to you not reading what is actually posted and not making assumptions.

Again, 83.9% is not a very average FG%. That is your ignorance shining for everyone.

Clearly, you wish to be taken seriously, otherwise you wouldn't have continued to respond to posts the way you have.

Exactly, not sure how anyone can hate on this guy. On his worst day, he's an average kicker who is athletic enough to make plays on special teams that most kickers can't. But generally IMHO he's a better-than-average kicker. He's got more range than Vinatieri, but not quite as much accuracy.

Any kicker or punter, I'm sure would prevent a TD on special teams, if they have to, it doesn't make them special. Just an average kicker that save a play.

I'm admitting my hate on Gostkowski for missing some pretty easy FGs this season. So what he kicks long kickoff balls and tackles, he can't kick for 3 points from 30-40 yards off. If he has to kick to win the game in the playoffs, we're screwed!!!

Not any kicker can make an athletic play to save a TD return. Gostkowski is far more athletic than the average K. He's actually done it more than once this season. Most kickers either miss the play entirely, get run over, or get juked out of their shoes.
