And good old Wes just keeps trucking on.

The moral, as always: Wes Welker freaking rocks!!!!!!!
I agree to an extent (Welker is the man), but if he gets hurt at any point over the next few weeks, people will point out how foolish he was for not throwing his weight around a bit more to get the extension that he clearly deserves.

Look at what happened to Matt Forte today. If his knee injury is significant, then being a "good soldier" is going to cost him millions of dollars. Say what you want about how Chris Johnson vs. Matt Forte handled their contract situations, but I have a hard time blaming a player for hating contract uncertainty.

There is nothing uncertain about it, they signed a deal, that I'm certain of it!

So was Price better then Underwood 3 weeks ago, since he was on the 53 man roster and Underwood wasn't? Did he somehow pole vault over Price? The reason I think it ups Welker's value is because its one more example that the Pats have a hard time of bringing in a WR via FA or the draft that can pickup this offense and be productive right away.

I don't think Welker is looking for the kitchen sink.

I don't see him holding the team to ransom. The deal will get done.

Absolutely It's incredibly hard for any player to learn this offense I'm on the bring in Eddie Royal, Lance Moore bandwagon and trade for a Vincent Jackson who maybe had cheaper than earlier based on the rebuild mode the Chargers will suddenly be in.

I think when Welker slows down he'll still be a top-tier slot receiver for a while after that. I.e., he has numerous excellent years ahead of him.

Vjax doesn't seem to be a great route runner, he just seems to go deep and out position and out muscle everyone else. Eddie Royal had his best years with Shannahan, when the Broncos installed the Pats offense with McDaniels, thats when Royal disappeared.

Royal? Why? Sign Welker. Bring Branch back (I don't think he'll be looking to break the bank this time...). Go out and draft a physical outside WR at the top of the draft.

I don't want BB to ever draft another WR again. He hasnt hit since Branch. FA WRs, he's much better at

I still don't understand why they didn't just push a deal through with a very fair price that would have been much, much lower in the beginning of the year when it was obvious that Welker was the same old #83?

Obviously there are many aspects to getting a deal done, but I just can't see Wes rejecting something in the 6 million per range earlier in the year.

In other words, why wait? They had the cap space to do it. All it did was cost them a lot more money in the long run, as now his market value shot through the roof with his great season and media hype.

Like I said, I'm sure there's more to it, but it does make you wonder...
